WVU names 2024 Foundation Scholars

Five exceptionally talented incoming West Virginia University freshmen whose academic interests span the fields of humanities, medicine and science are eager to use their curiosity, creativity and problem-solving skills to generate new ideas and innovative solutions for a better future as the 2024-25 WVU Foundation Scholars, the highest academic scholarship the University awards.

    A Campus Conversation was held Thursday (April 18) via Zoom to discuss the University’s next steps in the implementation of the Campus Self-Defense Act which takes effect July 1.

  • WVU Press release offers playful look at Earth’s biological diversity

    West Virginia University Press has announced the release of Isaac Yuen’s “Utter, Earth,” described as “a light, literary take on an animal book for grown-ups, a tongue-in-cheek self-help column with lessons drawn from nature, and a sort of hitchhiker’s guide to the more-than-human world.”

  • Letter to WVU community details University presidential search process

    West Virginia University Board of Governors Ad Hoc Governance Committee Chair Dr. Patrice Harris sent a letter to members of the University community Wednesday (April 17), providing an update on the presidential search process.

  • WVU announces First Day Complete, new course material delivery program

    In partnership with Barnes and Noble College, the WVU Bookstore will launch First Day® Complete this fall, a new course material delivery program for undergraduate students that provides rented course materials at a lower, flat-rate price in a convenient package before the first day of class.

  • Faculty, staff honored for excellence in advising

    Each year, at the direction of the Office of the Provost, the Academic Advising Council selects honorees for the Nicholas Evans Awards for Advising Excellence in recognition of outstanding advising and mentoring provided by faculty and professional advisers at WVU. The 2024 award recipients are Amanda Baker, Kelli George, Tara Robbins and Mark Schraf.

  • WVU Alumni Association University Chapter hosts book drive

    Drop off your new or gently used books between 9 a.m. and noon tomorrow (April 20). For each book donated, participants will receive a pepperoni roll while supplies last. Book donors will also have an opportunity to participate in “WVU Trivia” to win exciting prizes.

  • Front Line Professionals meeting set for next week

    With the passage of the Campus Self-Defense Act set to take effect July 1, join members of our campus community to discuss implementation, resources and answer questions at noon April 24 in the Mountainlair, Shenandoah Room.

  • Passing of the Rifle Ceremony planned next week

    Mikel Hager will officially pass on the rifle and Mountaineer mascot responsibilities to Braden Adkins during the Passing of the Rifle Ceremony Friday, April 26. A reception will be held at 5 p.m. in the Mountainlair Vandalia Lounge followed by the program at 6 p.m. in the Gluck Theatre.

  • Libraries to unveil Regina Charon portrait

    A portrait of Regina Charon, a pioneering civil rights attorney and role model for women entering the legal profession, will be unveiled at 4 p.m. May 3 in the Downtown Library, Robinson Reading Room.

  • Campus Conversation on campus carry implementation set for today

    A Campus Conversation focused on the steps the University is taking to prepare for the July 1 take-effect date for the Campus Self-Defense Act is scheduled for 11 a.m. today (April 18) via Zoom.
